Welcome to Sequoia House Seattle!

Welcome to Sequoia House Seattle, proud home of The Ralph Willet Young City of Seattle Heritage Tree.

Dedicated in 2002 by the City of Seattle and Plant Amnesty in conjunction with the current home owner and steward of the tree Belinda Young, this Giant Sequoia measures more than 120 feet high, more than 30 feet in circumference and almost 12 feet in diameter as of this writing, making it one of the largest Giant Sequoias on private property in the city.

Located at 6531 40th Ave SW, it is dedicated in honor of Ralph Willet Young, the father of the current home owner and steward of the tree, whose ancestors first settled in Washington State in 1865 and who held a reverence for all living things - especially trees and this tree in particular.

Although it is a City of Seattle Heritage Tree, this Giant Sequoia is maintained by the owner of Sequoia House Seattle.  Her goal is to create a private neighborhood landmark to be shared and enjoyed by the citizens of Seattle and beyond.

After all, Giant Sequoias can live up to 2,000 years.  What better legacy for all of us - those who maintain the tree and those who come to pay respect to it and view its natural beauty - to leave for future generations to enjoy?
